Refund Policy

At ChessNoteR, we stand behind the quality of our products. Our refund policy is as follows:

Hardware Returns

  • Customers may request a refund within 14 days of purchase
  • Hardware refunds only apply to items purchased directly from ChessNoteR
  • A 25% restocking fee applies to all returned hardware

Restocking Fee Explanation

The 25% restocking fee is necessary to maintain the high standards required for our tournament-legal devices. This fee covers:

  • Mandatory testing and recertification of returned devices
  • Verification of FIDE and USCF compliance standards
  • Inspection of hardware and proprietary software integrity
  • Quality assurance testing to maintain tournament-legal status
  • Repackaging and administrative processing

All returned devices must pass our comprehensive inspection process before being recertified for tournament use. This ensures every ChessNoteR device, whether new or resold, meets the strict standards required by FIDE and USCF regulations.

ChessNoteR reserves the right to modify this refund policy at any time. Any changes will apply to purchases made after the modification date.

Limited Warranty

All ChessNoteR devices include a 90-day limited hardware warranty from the date of delivery. This warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

  • Warranty claims must be initiated within 90 days of delivery
  • Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims
  • This warranty does not cover accidental damage, misuse, cosmetic wear, or unauthorized modifications

If a device is found to be defective within the warranty period, ChessNoteR will, at its discretion, repair or replace the product at no additional cost (excluding shipping fees).

This limited warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser.

Note: Devices returned under warranty must pass the same inspection process as outlined in our refund policy to ensure tournament compliance.

Warranty Coverage for Repaired or Replaced Devices

Any device repaired or replaced under this limited warranty will continue to be covered for the remainder of the original 90-day warranty period, or for 30 days from the date of replacement—whichever is longer.

This ensures fair coverage without indefinitely extending the warranty period. The warranty does not reset upon repair or replacement.
